Like anyone, I'd love to be able to play these formats on a stand-alone DVD player. I'm gonna buy one, but with DVD players now starting to have WMA playback and with a new Terminator 2 DVD coming out that has another side that is WMV (much higher quality) it seems like it's only a matter of time before it happens. I can easily wait a few months if thats how long it'll take for DVD players to be able to playback WMV and Divx files. Any ideas?
Are DVD players going to be able to play Divx and WMV anytime soon?

Well I answered my own question after finding a few other forums. Actually went out and bought one today too. Realized that it will be quite a while before WMV/Divx playback happens and found a discussion about Norcent DVD players. Picked one up a wal-mart for $50 and it does everything I want it to (obviously with no Dixv/WMV playback. It took 5 seconds to make it region free and I won't have to go through the hassle of authoring VCD/SVCD files cause it'll play raw Mpegs. -
