    capture question

    i have a vcr with rca outputs that i am capturing with. the results
    are good, but i was wondering if i buy a vcr with svhs outputs if the results will be better. i am using tapes that were not recorded with svhs.

    S-VHS will give you higher quality than composite even when recording on standard vhs tapes. However to realise optimum quality you should record on S-VHS tapes. With respect to recordings that were made on a standard VCR, the quality of output will be determined by the quality of the original recording and the condition of the tape used, but all things being equal you should see some improvement if these were played on a S-VHS machine.
