Hi, everytime I try to play a movie using DivX, there is no picture...The sound is there, but the picture looks like an oil spill; a lot of colors, and u cant make out any picture....I use ffdshow, and I used that GSPOT thing as well...it said the codec ffdshow is capable of playing it...does anyone know what is wrong by any chance, and how I can fix it?

1) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub
2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"
3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box -

Uhm.. what do you mean by "Playing movie with divx"? divx is a codec, not a player. My guess is the software that you have probably too old. Try download newer codec. Even FFDShow have their updates
some other codec that you preferably install is Xvid and DivX 5.* codec. Both are came from different maker. Although i do think that installing newer version of FFDShow could just solve your problem
