No mp3 audio with a .mov movie

I am having trouble getting audio from a .mov movie - the movie uses "MPEG-1 Layer 3" audio compression..

I have the latest version of Quicktime installed and have the Radium MP3 codec installed from a version of the Tsunami filter pack, as well as a few other MP3 decoders + codecs I installed from the filter pack after I realised the Radium codec wasn't solving the problem.

Quicktime tells me that it needs to DL software from the Quicktime website in order to play the movie, but conveniently doesn't tell me exactly what software I need. As I have no internet connection to my PC (i'm using a college computer to type this) I can't connect to the Quicktime site to find out if they have this software.

I'm thinking it must be a codec i'm missing, yet I have the Radium MP3 codec installed so perhaps it isn't..

If it is of use, the movie i'm trying to play is the 500 meg Half-Life 2 movie...

I'd be extremely grateful if anyone could help, I know this isn't exactly a ripping question but i'm at my wit's end here :/

I'm not aware of any videos in MAC .MOV format that use .MP3 audio...

      .oOo.

Here is a sample movie in apple quicktime .mov format with mp3 audio :

You need to install Quicktime Player with checked 'Essentials' and 'Internet Extras'.
'Essentials' is for the Video and 'Internet Extras' is for the MP3 Audio.
'Internet Extras' are not installed in the default configuration as far as I know.

You also can copy the following files to the system-dir and use Media Player Classic 6.4.5.2 to play your movie :

      QuickTime.qts
      QuickTimeEssentials.qtx
      QuickTimeInternetExtras.qtx
      QuickTimeMPEG.qtx
      QuickTimeMPEG4.qtx
