aspect ratio problem

why does my dvd-r backups look stretched when played back on standalone player

i am using dvd shrink to make backups is there a way i can get around this problem my dvd player does not alow to change between 4.3 and 16.9

i would like to make backups that play like originals eg they automatically play back with the correct aspect ratio

am i doing something wrong?

Have you tried changing the settings on your standalone DVD player to 4:3 Letterbox? (You can usually set to 4:3 Pan and Scan, 4:3 Letterbox, and Widescreen)

tried that and nothing happens is there anything i can do at the authoring stage to eliminate this problem
