    AVI distorted

I'm trying to view an avi file that I just downloaded the nimo pack to run, and it is really distorted. It is upside down and the color is really messed up.. Any suggestions?

    1. Load up the AVI file into GSpot and post a screenshot of the information displayed here.

    Alternatively:
    1. Open the file in Virtualdub
    2. Go to File -> File Information
    3. Post what information you see here

I tried runing GSpot on it and it intercepted a crash caused by LameACM.acm and msacm.acm

          Any suggestions? Thanks.

Here is what it gave me:

Warning: DirectShow crashed while GSpot was attempting to obtain information about a codec.

This is usually due to damaged, misconfigured, conflicting, or poorly written codec drivers. It is possible, perhaps even likely, that other media players will crash when they attempt to play this file as well, as most of them will also use DirectShow. GSpot was able to intercept the crash, and has attempted to identify the codec or filter involved; uninstalling or reinstalling this codec or filter may solve the problem.

The codec was tentatively identified as:

            C:\WINDOWS\System32\lameACM.acm
            msacm.lameacm

A quick suggestion: uninstall Nimo and install the Tsunami codec pack instead.

Yeah, do that, the codec packs will mess your computer, just install ONLY the codecs that you need...

I uninstalled Nimo and installed Tsunami, and now it doesn't work at all.

Can you post a screenshot of the GSpot window here? I would like to see what you require in order to view this one AVI file.

Make sure you have the XViD codec installed (it might not have been installed by the Tsunami installation). As an alternative, you can use FFDShow to play XviD-compressed videos.

The audio is in MP3 format and Windows natively supports this format (so you should not have any problems with the audio). However, the MP3 decoder might have been (inadvertently) removed by the uninstallation of Nimo. Tsunami codec pack has an updated MP3 decoder and I strongly suggest you get it installed.

p.s. Check out UncasMS's website which will have the most recent version of the Tsunami codec pack.

The XViD Codec fixed most of it, but it is still tinted blue. I'm playing it through Winamp, and it does the same thing with WMP.

I suggest you update your graphic card driver (and DirectX), if you haven't done so for some time...
