Philips DVDR-985 vs Macrovision

Does anyone know if there is hardware or a utility that would filter out the wascally evil MACROVISION & allow back up recording of VHS & DVD's to the Philips DVDR-985 Recorder? I'm converting my library of VHS tapes over to DVD and approximately 50% of them are Macrovision Copyguarded. SIMA & others state they do not work with DVD Recorders (specifically the Philips)...only players. Any help? Thank you.
