Why did my DVD rip in Spanish????

I got a brand new computer the other day so I thought to myself: "What better way to show off my my PC's speed than ripping a DVD." It should have been no problem since I was using Smartripper. I ripped in movie mode thinking that everything was going to be dandy. When I tested the VOB files, I realized that half of them didn't have audio of the audio was in Spanish. I never had this problem before. I even tried other ripping programs and still got the same result. Any ideas on what to do?

Don't jump to a hasty conclusion. If you've ripped the ENTIRE DVD (so that it is playable as a DVD by your software DVD player, rather than playing individual .VOBs), you'll be pleasantly surprised!

      One more question

Before I start converting the VOB's to a DivX AVI file, i have one more question. Will the final 700 meg movie be completely in English even if the ripped VOB's weren't when played individually. Also what player should I use to play ripped DVD's, DivX, and VOB's?

Vob files generally can't be played back individually, because they are chained together.

Easiest way to make sure u got the right audio track would be to encode the audio seperatly.

Perhaps I didn't express myself clearly...
Before you go to the trouble of attempting to burn a DivX-format .AVI, you should play the ripped FULL DVD from your hard drive, using your software DVD player (I assume you already have some DVD software player installed, since you ripped a DVD) the same way you would with a "real" DVD - to make certain that when you select a language at the outset, it plays all the way through (Again, NOT individual .VOBS!) in that language. If it does (as it should), you should then use a conversion program such as Flask and select "Full DVD" (NOT "file") to create your DivX .AVI.

P.S. My software DVD player of choice is WinDVD. WinDVD v.3.xxx is also capable of playing .AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, VCD, and SVCD formats.
