i've a divx film but with black borders on the top and bottom. How can i remove them (with reencoding if needed). I've virtualdub but i don't find any option than can fix this. Another soft?

If you just download the movie, i won't suggest you to tamper with it unless if the quality is really good enough for you to re-encode. I find it quite degrading when you re-encode an avi movies, unless if it really is very high bitrate ones.
Basically if you load any filter in virtual dub, you can crop the avi. I would suggest you crop when you resize, if you are in to the encoding stuff. But then, people who encode stuff, mostly know how to crop..
