Damn Problem .. Someone plz help

Ok i have this divx.. and i know that who ever ripped it must have been in the UK because that is where it was released.. And when ever i goto watch it i encounter Video Problems.

I think i need a different codec and i think the fact that it is region 2 encoding is my problem

Does anyone know of a divx decoder that works with all regions

There is no such thing as region-encoded DivX...

divx is a codec which may be used to decode different regionDVDs, but in itself, it is not region-dependant, try installing other codecs. look up the name of the codec used for the movie (more details - divx 3, 4, or 5? or other)...

        Wrong.

The DivX codec is used to compress (encode) and decompress (decode) DivX-compressed video. It CANNOT be used to decode MPEG-2 (DVD) videos.

          To Cei0

Posting more details on the particular video file you are having trouble with will help. Do the following:

          1. Load up the AVI file into GSpot and post a screenshot of the information displayed here.

          Alternatively:
          1. Open the file in Virtualdub
          2. Go to File -> File Information
          3. Post what information you see here

Try using FFDShow for the decoder of your video
            should be working well enough.

Divx doesn't have region. After you ripped dvd files into your computer, the protection is removed. So that's kinda the same as making it "region free". then you start encoding it into avi. That's what you are having. Up till now, haven't heard anyone complaints about unable to watch avi using FFDShow.

Anyway.. what video problem that you're having??

              agree enchanter.
what i meant was that when u encode avi in divx, there are no region specifications
