Playback Problems!!

hey, im having some problem when some files (mpg and avi) play perfectly on WMP but i cannot fast forward or rewind the movie at all, it has to play from beginning to end, non stop. Any ideas?

Regarding one of your problem .AVIs:


1) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Tough luck pal, you have a corrupted movie that is in A-Stupid-Format.

No, it's not corrupted but:

That file is not an .AVI - it is in .ASF format, which was/is typically used to create streaming video. If you've somehow managed to capture and download such a video, don't expect it to include the ability to fast forward or reverse, since it wasn't formatted to do so...


(If you want to try to convert it to a "normal" .AVI, download and install SPECIFICALLY the older version 1.3C of VirtualDub, which will accept .ASF files for input)
