I downloaded DVDX Player Pro to try it out.
Two problems make it a no-buy for me, unless there are solutions...?
(1)The description says it's region-free, but in the FAQs it says you can change regions 5 times, and then it's permanently locked to whatever the 5th choice was.
...so it's not REALLY region-free???
(2)When I put in DVDs to play, there's no sound. My sound system is a Creative Extigy system that supports Dolby5.1. It connects to the computer via USB. It works fine with my PowerDVD software (but that software supports only 2-channel sound), but with DVDX I get no sound whatsoever. I tried all the options that are available in DVDX's audio menu -- nothing works. (These same DVDs play properly through PowerDVD.)
I conclude that DVDX cannot support the Creative Extigy system...?
If I'm just wrong about these two conclusions, I'd really appreciate finding that out, and would buy the product.
Thanks much,
Ernie
