Any video player w/o need to have codec installed?

    Hello,
This one goes to all gurus here
The main problem is that i can't install any codec that writes to system32 dir, i have Win2000 workstation i think, and security doesn't allow writing. So i am searching for any codec mainly divx that would somehow work w/o installing or for any video player that would have the codec built-in. I don't know even if that's possible.

    Thanks for any help,

even if I don't think The Playa is a good player, you can try it. It uses internal codec.
    it's available at divx homepage.

        MPLAYER for windows
        Download link and information here:

        or Videolan.

I would recommend MPLAYER, however. Both players require no installation, or codec installation.

Thanks! Got videolan and finally could play the movie... gmplayer looked ok, but it had strange bugs, no buttons worked, and didn't try the command line version.

The admin would never do this, for he would ask what for? They are security nuts here...

          Thanks guys, again!

            I actually find MPLAYER easier.
You simply drag the media file on the MPLAYER.exe icon or shortcut. The MPLAYER doom9 link in my earlier post explains the command line shortcuts for fullscreen/fast forwarding. Give it a chance, I did and I enjoyed it.

In any case, glad to see you solved your problem
