.AVI to blank DVD-R question/help

I am trying to burn Gundam 0080 6 episodes to a blank DVD.And i was just wondering what i needed to do to put them a on a blank DVD-R.I heard you had to reencode them to MPEG2or4.If so what program is it called?Then how to i burn them to boot on a DVD home player?Thanks for the help.

Oh sorry, your post was vague and I assumed you meant dvd-dvd.

If you just right click the video file -> properties, it should display both the video and audio codecs used.

There are a multitude of programs that will do what you're looking to do, but since I have no experience with dvd's and don't know which is best, I'll turn this one over to setarip.

EDIT:I downloaded the these files so i could make .asf a .AVI.
MS MPEG-4 VKI Codec
VirtualDub 1.3c - a earlier version of VirtualDub that has ASF support.
Ok i just downloaded them both,I made a folder and put the 3 files from the mpeg4 codec in the folder with all the files from Virtualdub then it says this when i try to open>file video file.

which 3 files? codec's files?

since the source is of very small resolution it is almost not the worth

to burn it to a DVD

you have to resize it by double
to 640 x480
use Fitcd

and then reencode it to mpeg2
use Tmpeg or cinema craft encoder
then use any dvd authoring tool to
create a dvd file and burn it!!

but I tell you, the source is just worth to convert it to vcd or svcd
with proper aspect ratio and burn that
to a dvd-r or svcd with having
several episodes on a disk!!

I justed burn some episodes to a blank CD using nero VCD mode.I put 3 episodes and it took about 2 hours.If i reencode it with Tmpeg to mpeg will it not take as long?Thanks


EDIToes making the resoulion bigger with Fitcd work with VCD mode?I dont have the SVCD mode.

ok, if you want to install this codec, you need to copy .dll and .ax files into a folder that belong to the PATH system variable, ex: c:/windows/system32 then your .Setup should explain how to register files into windows registry in order to be declared as codecs.

yes Fit cd does work with the VCD format.

its just a little "gui" for creating avisynth scripts,
and many common format presets are implemented.
