Recording From VCR in MPEG2 and convert in MPEG4

    Hello,

    First I'm a beginner.
I have some movies recorded with my video camera and I want to put them on CD. I have a normal TV tuner and an AMD XP 2000, HDD 7200RPM,...

Using my tuner I record my movies in MPEG-2 format(there are 100M for 2 minutes). The image is good(like it is on the video tapes).
The problem is that I want to convert them in MPEG-4 format to put 100 minutes of movie on a CD(700Mb). How can I do that WITH NO LOSS OF IMAGE QUALITY ? Is it possible ?

    Thanks

    are you talking of 100megabytes

Phew, that implies that you are capturing
with a bitrate of approx. 6850 kbits per second counting video and audio!!!???

    to answer your question:

There is no way of compressing a video
file into another format with absolute NO LOSS OF QUALITY.
At least none that would comply to your wish to store 100 minutes to a single
    700 mb CD.

If you want to use the the mpeg4 codec the settings should be

    Video bitrate : 871 kbits / second

    run Two passes.

    audio should be compressed to

    Audio bitrate : 112 kbits / second
    mp3, mp3 pro......whatsoever
this setting will result in a movie file
    (xxx.avi) of about 700 mb.

You can use Studio 8 for that transforming purpose or virtual dub or nandub.
