    problem playing mpg files

I have the following problem when a play downloaded mpg files. If i play a file, using Windows media player, or almost any other program, they only show the beginning of the file.

a file of about 150 mb plays usually about 30 minutes. (the file does originaly plays 30 minutes). When i play the file it shows me only about 1 minute!!! If i use the fast search button on the player i can go further in the file, but it stops after playing one minute.

When i try to burn the file as a vcd using Nero Burning rom it tells me to re-encode the file, if i don't it only burns the first minute of the file, if i do it burns the hole file, but it plays at twice the normal speed.

What can i do to see the hole file and burn it at normal speed as a vcd?!

    Please HELP!!!!

I see that this is your first post

    Welcome!

well if all your players show the same result it may be
the mpg decoder your system chooses by default, that produces
    these results.

to make sure you should provide a little more information.

    what players did you use??

win dvd ? power dvd? bs player? or what else?
do you have the latest directx runtime?
do you meet this problem with all of your mpeg files?

If you are not sure try to upgrade your mpeg decoder (and maybe
    remove the old one temporarily)

unfortunatly there are not many good and free mpeg codecs
and especially mpeg2 codecs out there. so maybe you have to get
    a commercial one.
but for the sake of testing maybe the people in the P2P forum can
help you out to get one!!!

    good luck
