DVD scene Capture

I am looking to capture scenes from home made DVD to put together on one DVD, I have been playing the DVD's on my home player and capturing them on my digital camcorder then recaputuring on computer with Pinnical Studio 8 software via firewire and putting it together, I lose quality with the analog transfer between the DVD plyer and camcorder. Is there any way to keep this all digital? Can I play DVD on computer and capture to camcorder via firewire? if so how? I hope this all makes sense to someone that may have an answer.
