Unwanted letterbox effect in all media players

Except Irfanview!!
All others I've tried (WMP, divx, zoom, vidomi) only show a portion in the middle of the screen, cutting off inches around the sides. Irfanview shows the same AVIs in full normal resolution, but it generally sucks and won't play xvids.
Anyone any idea what my problem is?

you try WMP version 6.4 yet?

Government throws more money at a problem, so it looks like they are making a difference.

Installed some junk codec pack recently? Remove it and I am sure your problem will be gone
