    Optimizing Hardrives for video

    I have a seagate ata 100 40g hardrive I am adding a western digital ata 100 60g hardrive for video rendering. What is the proper way to optimize these drives to work together well for video work ?

    I would recommend not to mount them into the same ide channel. I'm pretty sure it will increase transfer speed from one hd to another... and the use of a ntfs or an ext3 file system.

        ok, your configuration is quite the same as me, here is mine:

        ide0:
        master -> hd 80Go:
        1. 20 Go NTFS winxp pro + softwares
        2. ~60 Go NTFS data storage1
        slave -> nothing (rack 5.1/4 for friend's hd)

        ide1:
        master -> dvd
        slave -> hd 40Go:
        1. 15Go NTFS data storage2
        2. ~25 Go NTFS data storage3

        edit: always store data into a different partition/drive than your OS!
