Old Divx DVD cd movies

Are there if any, programs to rip old Divx dvd movies? I was one of many that basically got ripped off with Divx rental type dvd movies u could buy for 5 bux then pay 5 bux to watch em for 48 hours. I have not had any luck in finding any info if any on ripping , copying or converting them.

Guess the real question is, are those disks just frisbees now?

(Every now and again, someone posts here that they've come across a "magical" way to resurrect such DVDs - if only you'll buy a special RCA Divx DVD player from them...)

how long ago was that? did I miss it by too much?
