    No sound in virtualdub

I try to preview avi movie in virtualdub (since is not fully downloaded so i use virtualdub to watch some of it).

    i got the message

"No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format"

i used Gspot and it say that my avi used:

Xvid video codec, and Ac3 audio codec. and i think Ac3 audio codec is the problem

anyway as long as i set source audio the movie wont play in virtualdub , if i check No audio the movie will play but then there is no sound

what can i do What codec shall i install to make virtualdub work
with sound on a avi file using Ac3 ?

i postet on virtualdub forum but nobody helped me

    i use windows98

If you have the windvd installed you can register
the ac3 audiodecompressor to windows by using DVD genie -->
    windvd-->more-->register filters with windows.

you can also download the tsunami filterpack 3.9.9 from
    here

and isntall the ac3 and acm codecs from that.

use the Custom method to just install the codecs required.
or leave it at least to the default selection in custom setup mode.

virtualdub WONT run an avi with ac3 audio: use nandub or virtualdubmod instead.

[edit] wrong vitualdubmod link, thx stardolphin.

it would work just use nandub or virtual dub mod.

my main issue was to get you an AC3 decoder if you miss one
