Audio codecs, sound quiete. Please help

I have downloaded a film(avi,xvid). I have ran this before and it was fine but since reinstalling windows the sound is really quiete. Is there an audio codec i need and if it could be more then one audio codec is there a way i can find out which one is required. Sorry if this makes no sense. im a newb.

You could try to demultiplex the sound out of the file and use MP3 GAIN to raise the sound level. I suggest using something between 90-95 db.

If the sound is not MP3 you should try to find another program on the web because I only know this and it can only porcces MP3.
