best way of getting vhs to dvd?

I have a big vhs collection and want to get them onto dvd without any loss of quality. What is the best or cheapest way of doing this? What do I need? Is anyone currently doing this and can give me some tips?

I think a lot of it depends on how much time you have, and how much you want to spend.
If you have "a lot" of free time and a decent PC then you could do it. My experience has been that for transferring commercial VHS tapes from my library it is a real hassle. First of all the time involved to capture, convert to digital, burn to DVD can take up to a couple of days, per tape.
