use DVD2SVCD and then use Nero to burn. It will come out in .bin and .cue files. In nero go to file and click on burn image. Then select the bin files and burn them Works like a charm and it TOTALLY simple

"why would it play regular svcd movies and not dvd-ripped svcd?"

What are your definitions of these two types of SVCDs?

one type of svcds are low quality and the dvd ripped ones are dvd quality.

Nope. It just depends on what your source file is and what bitrate you are running

"one type of svcds are low quality and the dvd ripped ones are dvd quality."

If the only difference is the quality of the video, then it would appear that you don't necessarily "know how to burn the movies and everything"...

              1) Have you successfully played these "DVD-quality" SVCDs on your PC, from your hard drive, by using a software DVD player such as WinDVD?

              2) Exactly what procedures have you used to create the SVCDs and then burn to CD-R?
