Choppy Playback - Help!!!!

I'm currently get choppy playback on high action scenes from divx / xvid movies (haven't tested other formats). But I have no clue what would be causing this.

I'm running:

P4 2.4 Ghz
512 meg 3300 ram
Geforce fx5600

Just updated all the drivers, and have the newest xvid & divx drivers.

Just finished rebuilding the computer and i get crappier playback than before, so i'm rather frustrated.
Any suggestions ???

Have you, if necessary, reinstalled DirectX?

Yea, its not directx.
