    best format to convert???

What is the best format that looks great on DVDs primarily. VCD and SVCD maybe, but I prefer DVD.
Should I convert avi's, mpgs, wmv, etc? What software is good?
Sometimes things seem a but too grainy/pixelated when on DVD but fine in medai player. I Have Roxio 6 to make the DVD. I also have Ulead Video Studio but maybe I am doing somethign worng or it stinks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

it depends on the quality of the source file and stop posting this topic repeatedly it's very annoying.

            well

Honestly, right now he is recording all sorts of stuff (mostly crap to be honest) His dog, some get togethers I miss, vietnam medal ceremonies at time (which he already did).

depending on the software he will use to capture it's most likely that vcd or svcd will produce better quality.

Well, it would depend on whether you would want to 'distribute' your material with others or prefer to view it individually.
