    Codec Dependent Media Launcher

    Hi

Im having some trouble finding a player that can play ALL kinds of .AVI files, regardless of codec. This problem is something i've had since video was ever invented on PC, and im sure im not the only one.

The trouble is that some players are good at different codecs. For ex. DivX player is really good for DivX4+ files. But it really is slow, and sucks with MJPG files. The Core Media Player (TCMP) is awesome for IV41, and IV50, and most DIVx3 content. Bsplay is really good and fast for MJPG files... so i have 3 different players to do the same job.

As of now, i've created a small tool, that when associated to .AVI, it will detect the codecin any avi file, and allow the user to select the player to launch for that particular codec.

Does any1 know if someone else already made this? And if so, please provide a link...

Here is a link to my tool:

I would use Zoom Player and it's custom media playback mode. You can find the best codec that works for you on a perticuler kind of avi and then fource zoom player to always use it for that type of avi.

Limited to Zoom Player Pro however so theres a nag screen unless youpau for it. It's $20 I think and well worth every cent. It'll wotk forever in nag mode though so if you dont mind the nag screen it's free. I bypass the nag screen by just never turning it off
