    The consensus around here (this month) is to rip and compress with DVDShrink (freeware) and burn with Nero.

      "does any one know any software that can help me protect my backups"

      Please explain yourself more clearly.

      1) Are you creating duplicate DVDs or are you ripping DVDs and converting them to other formats (e.g. .AVIs, .MPEG1-VCDs, .MPEG-2SVCDs)?

      2) What do you mean by "protection"? Do you want to physically protect them, or protect them AGAINST being copied?

        I guessed he is a TOTAL newbie and totally unfamiliar with terminology. I don't think he wants an answer of "place your backup DVD's in jewelcases to protect them."

            DVD Shrink automatically removes ALL copy protection, so I guess you'll have to lock your copies in a safe ;>}

              hmmmm....guess I was wrong. You can always put chains around those jewel cases.

                To fajardog

                You don't, by any chance, live in my favorite small town (Fajardo) on the north end of Puerto Rico, do you?

                  Dang...I'm staring at a T-Shirt for the Traveler (a catamaran dive boat) I picked up on a dive trip there last year.
