    Why oh Why (video problem)

I know it might be a beginners question, but i'm having some trouble with a video i downloaded. No matter which player I use, after a few seconds the video holds although sound continious. Now i might have blamed the video, but on other computers it worked normally. (the video is saved on the hard-drive)(and most drivers are properly updated) It seems like a normal avi formatted video and my computer should be able to handle it, athlon 1800+, 512mb ram and a decent geforce.

Now this little joke has happened more than once so I wondered if someone could help me with this.

    thanks

In order to determine which codec(s) you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

    1) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Have you tried viewing it with BSPlayer? It's a free download on this site.

A program called gspot codec information said I had the needed files to play the video, but oh well, here is the info box.

Thanks for the help guys, but I've found the answer.
A progam called FFDSHOW solved it all.

          thanks again
