Xvid TV-Out Problems

i have win XP - home
with ATI readon card.
i connect my comp. to the TV to see there the mouvies.
i can see all the formats on my comuter.
on the TV i can see DIVX and DIV3
but i cant see mouvies in XVID format only!
i see the mouvie on my comp. screen but on the TV i see black
only with the XVID format.
someone know this problem?

What decoder is being used for DivX (all versions)? Is it the same as that for XviD? You can use WMP 6.4 to find out via its Advanced Properties tab.

about codecs...

i dont know what is the WMP 6.4(windows media player?)

but i have a package(from some web site)

with all the new codecs include (divx,div3,xvid):

and i can see all the formats on the PC screen.

Windows media Player 6.4 is an older (and more reliable) player, and can be opened by typing the command "mplayer2.exe" from the Run Command.

When playing the video in WMP 6.4, go to File -> Properties -> Advanced Tab. There you can see the filters in use for decoding the video. It should be a child's play to identify the video decoder in use.

an xvid direct show filter might also solve your problem

or use a player that use direct show routines by default
when installed......such as BSplayer

the ffdshow might also be able to solveyour problems....

to get hold of the filters check the Tsunami filter and codec pack 3.9.9

but do only install the codecs you need and not "ALL"

the pack might offer you.

I don't recommend doing so since the versions of FFDShow and XviD codec found in the pack are (very) outdated.

p.s. hofman, the purpose of my asking you to do as above is to determine whether the decoder used is at fault or whether something else is at work here. I hope that clears things up a bit for you.

all this time i try your solutions, but i am still cant see XVID mouvies on my TV screen.
but i will tell you more details about the problem:
when i am trying normaly to see any mouvie(divx,xvid...)
on the TV , i see only black on the TV screen.
so i cahnge the "Hardware Acceleration" from FULL to NON
and only then i can see the DIVX mouvies on the TV.
but now i cant see the XVID mouvies also on the PC screen.
i try to install (FFDShow and XviD codec and the Tsunami pack 3.9.9) but nothing help, its in the same situation.
someone of you have some solution?

You have not answered the question I originally asked, "What decoder is being used for DivX (all versions)? Is it the same as that for XviD?"

I forgot to add that using GSpot is probably a faster and more convenient way of determining the above.

about the Decoders:
Divx - 5.0.5
XVID - xvid mpeg 4 video codec

those are different decoders for ech format.

i think that the decoders are not the problem, because i am see them on the pc screen.
but i think that the problems from the Display Settings
i have:
laptop (notbook) compaq
P4 - 2.66
512 MB
ATI RADEON IGP 345M
WIN XP HOME

you should set your ati graphiccard to 24 bits colordepth at least and preffering overlay mode in display.....
when you activate tht tv output....make sure that
the "tv symbol" is set to be the "primary" display device....

as soon as you have activated your second screen
check your adavanced options.....
i am not quite sure since my display is a little different
(due to older driver model)

the reason why you can´t check primary at this very moment is that you have to get your second display
device fully working before the ati cofiguring program
allows you to set the second "monitor" device as primary
(what would you do with no monitor device that displays info correctly)

check the advanced options under display there must be a setting for tft display , monitor and tv out put......
select tv output to be primary

yes, i try it already, but
i cant make the 2 screens saperate.
both of them identified as SCREEN 1
when i try to close the PC monitor from the advanced mode
so its give me answer that i cant close both of them

so actually, i need to make the TV NO. 2
and the PC No. 1

i find solution, and now i can see the mouvies (inclode XVID)
on my TV.
shiny#3 gave me the solution, i play with the advanced settings
and i founf there the option to work only with the TV
