For the record, I was using Kodak's gold media (until they stopped producing and replaced them with some silver-gold composite media). Since then I have been using TDK as my media brand and been experiencing little problems using them as when I was using Kodak.

i use TDK and Verbatim. and for cheap not so important burns... i use 4 x Princo

I've got a Plextor PX-708a which seems a bit picky about media. I'm using Ricoh +R 4x (DRD-4XPC). No coasters with this so far and it is recognised by everything I tried it in including standalone players with no problems.
