    Sony

SONY Mini-DV camera / format : What Codec do i need to access the files from VirtualDUB ?

I still have a massive problem with my Sony mini-DV camera.
It outputs 14 GB / hour to an .AVI file.

When trying to open this with virtualDUB,
it tells me that the codecs for the unknown format

"dvsd" (suppose this is the mini-DV format)
are not found and that the direct-show codecs of mediaplayer are not suitable.

Sony itself offers no help here.
Anyone who has a similar camera, please help.
There must be a correct codec for the mini-DV format -
so that i can then convert it to DivX with virtual dub.

    greetings

I'm having this trouble as well. I just downloaded VirtualDub 1.4.8, so I'll try it tonight to see if that helps. If not, I plan to use Premiere to save the avi file as uncompressed and then use VD to open and manipulate it. I suppose I could use Premiere, but I want to see how VirtualDub works.
