Xvid to Mpg anyone help plz

OK first of all I dl 2pac for ever movie it said it was in xvid format so i dl the codecs to play in my media player it comes up with all this green around it. It opend fine in VLC I wanted to convert it to a MPG for a VCD I opend tmpgenc it will only read the video. So i wanted to convert it from xvid to another .avi format in virtual dub but dont know what compression to use so it wont take alot of space on the hard drive. any help would be appreciated.

ok i found out how to do it I rip the audio from ths xvid file in Virtual dub and use that .wav file as sound in tmpgenc the only thing now when i ripped the audio it sounds like crap it sounds like it skips any suggestins on ripping sound?
