Yer system is fine for capturing though that graphics card is older then dirt but thats ok cuz it dosnt mater for capturing and it's more then good enough for media playback

I used to have an old (It was old even when I had it) PCI ATI All-In-Wonder Rage Pro II+DVD a few years back.

Anyway yes the faster yer system is the higher res and fewer droped frames you can capture. You cant capture above what your capture hardware is capable of or the source media though.

Your capture card probly wont capture higher then 720x576 at 25 frames a second (mine is 720x480 at 30 frames a second).

ok lot of ppl dont get this, ur capture card has a builtin hardware encoder , means u dont need cpu speed.
but minimum cpu speed depends on the quality of the hardware chip, say some cards require 400 to 600 mhz pcs some require 1.0 ghz.

but if u dont have a hardware encoder u atleast need 1.5 ghz system , 2.0 ghz will be better. faster harddisk is a must, memory is always like more u have better it is

also capturing direct to mpeg1 requires less powre then mpeg2.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!
