Will it play in the DivX player?
Have you installed the DivX codecs?

You can't play the video because windows does not come with a divx video codec. You hear the sound because it's either uncompressed, (WAV) or it's compressed with an audio codec (like MP3) that you do have installed. If you are missing sound, video.. one or the other, it's likely that you need to install a codec. WMP will usually tell you that it doesn't have an appropriate decompressor (codec) if you are missing a codec.

Rather than waste space on this forum, you can learn more about codecs here: http://www.puremotion.com/resources/...decsexplained/
You can get divx codecs at the divx website at uh.. guess where? www....com

Download the divx bundle and it will include the video codec you need. After you install the codecs, you will be able to play your video. If you run into this problem again, with a different file, you need a codec. find out the name of the missing codec and search for it on the web.

Be forwarned that you may have a million more questions from this point on, the codec question was my first, and the answer sure lead to more questions. You should try searching for answers on the web, and always read the FAQ (frequently asked questions) before posting in a forum like this. Your answers are on the web in plain view (use your search engine) and you won't have to wait to get an answer.
