    CAN I PUT 500 + MINUTES ONTO ONLY 3 DVD + R s, NEWBIE,HELP

    Hell All,

I'm new to the scene and I really need your help in getting

started. I have had someone offer me a tv show that I've

been searching for at a great price. The problem is that the

show has over 50 episodes at approx. 45 - 50 minutes a piece.

But, they're on only three discs. Is it possible to record over 500

minutes of footage onto only three store bought DVD + r discs?

HE says that the show is recorded in divx at 700kbs onto DVD + r.

Also, if it is possible will I be able to burn a backup of the discs

as they already are onto three discs ithout making any changes.

Does it matter that they are divx? Any help would greatly be

    appreciated. Thank you !

Yes. It's possible to do that. You can also make duplicates of these discs (if you own a DVD burner) or copy the episodes onto your HD and burn them as data on CDs.

Being DivX-compressed, the caveat is you can only play it on your computer.

    Regards.

depend on the show (and how you make compromises) sometimes you can get really great compression rate:

i've encoded 24 episodes of "24 (season 1)" at 512x384, 23.976fps, 96kbps (audio), 56% CompressibilityCheck to a total of 3.8GB, and it looks great too, at 1024x768 fullscreen! a whole season on one disc, with room to spare.
