    the ominous black borders!!!!

Good day to everyone on the forum... This is my first post and I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who might be able to end my 6 months of frustration in dealing with the ominous black borders....

Ok so what Im trying to do is create a mix in either vjam, motiondrive or arkaos and either record it onto my dv camera or record it on one of my computers and render as a mov. which can then be burnt onto dvd or dumped back to vhs. Then Im also trying to record a slide show generated from my laptop and either recorded onto vhs or my dv camera -- I have done both and then I want to mix it all with a couple of vhs or dvd sources.... through my edirol,

Now ive been doing this live with no problems... but when i take it all into computer land and capture onto the computers i am getting a black border on the computers this is both on the apple powerbook and a chunky pc wiith an ati raedion 9200 graffic card... the border seems to be generated by the computer what ever i try and do... once again this is ok live because i can adjust the zoom on the projector and i dont get this ugly effect of different size outputs... I really need to have all my sources the same size and am totally stumped...

Ive been and bought a scan converter and the overscan is limited... ive added rage 3dtweak to my graffic card in the pc.. and it does not seem to be able to do anything... ive been playing with the display settings for months... ive updated all the drivers on the pc.. hmmmm... tried so many different ways of of recording and playing and nothing has anyone got any ideas please... any suggestions would be gratfully received, peacfully x coresnfx

Everything you see on the PC (top, bottom and sides) gets overscanned when viewing a DVD on the TV. If you REALLY want to remove the bars you can use TMPGenc (settings>>advanced>>clip frame). The bars are normal.

Thank you for your advice.. and if the bars are normal then why are they a different size from computer to computer and application to application... for example when I create a arkoas mix and record it with in arkaos on the apple and then save as a .mov and when I make a slide show within xp on windows picture and fax viewer and record that onto the dv camera via my edirol and then import it onto the apple from the dv camera why are the black borders a different size when in all the settings on both computers ive got the same output size/res.... a mystery that they all seem to be different sizes - maybe im missing a setting somewhere and its at a different res. and thats whats creating it.... Oh well I will check out TMPGenc and see if that sorts it... Happy New Year and thanks again.... peacefully dx
