Unknown Audio Format, Want To Convert To Something Like Wmp

My friend went to italy and left messages over the phone through http://www.acis.ekit.com/ekit/home/ and you are able to listen to them over the internet....its all good, but her mom wants me to download them and burn them onto CD, audio kinda thing. i get them downloaded, but the file type is unknown and i tried opening it with Windows Media Player and it works......but still doesn't let me burn it, cause the type is unknown, and i really need to know how to get something to change the file format to something i can use and burn.....PLEASE HELP....i have tried two types of audio converters, one didn't work entirely and the other didn't recognize it.
