What is the best program for cutting/joining .wmv files?

Hi--

For a long time I've been using Asf Tools 3.1 (the latest version, as far as I can tell?) to cut and join .wmv files. It works well, but every once in awhile it cannot successfully cut or join a .wmv file or files. I'm looking around to see if there is another tool that I can use for this task-- does anyone know what program is considered to be the best for cutting/joining .wmv files, just as virtualdub is considered the best for cutting/joining avis?

I looked through the posts and noticed that a few months ago setarip told someone that they could use windows media encoder http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx to edit .wmv files-- is this, maybe, the program of choice?

guess not the encoder, u just need windows movie maker 2 for that pretty easy and will cut join wmv clips/movie.

with encoder too but its really a mess, understanding the gui and options.............
only if u want some encoding u can use encoder 9 .
