VirtualDubMod acting like a moron :)

I took an OGM stream that has multiple audio tracks and chapter information and did a direct stream copy into an MKV contanor. All the streams and chapter info copied over fine but when I go play the new MKV I cant access the chapters or the multiple audio.

furthermore I cant demux the audio back out of the MKV (OGG streams) or do another direct stream copy to another MKV file. It just sits on it;s ass showing 0.0 frames copied and the file stops at 35KB.

It works perfictly fine to demux OGM and AVI strams.

So whays it siting on it's ass like that and how do I make the multi audio tracks work?

Cyrius made an incredible job hacking MKV and OGM support into Virtualdub, which is very AVI centered, however, we are well aware this will never be a real clean and bug free solution.

I recommend to use mkvmerge from mkvtoolnix to convert your OGM to MKV, simply start the GUI ( mmg.exe ) and load the OGM. Dont forget to load the necessary mingw runtimes from the same link, if you download mkvtoolnix for the first time, and decompress them into the same folder .....

Yea i'm very happy with VDubMod and it;s one of the most handy programs I have.

I just haddent noticed it isnt fully compatable with MKV files as far as pulling tracks back out of them once made. I just never had to do it before as this is the first time I messed with multiple audio trcks. I also have sence figured out that the multi audio problem was due to a miss configuration in my media player and it was working the whole time. So I guess it was me being the moron for not noticing that before I posted this

Anway I managed to get all of the OGMs converted over no problem with VDubMod and I had checked out mkvmerge as suggested by a forum user over at inmatrix and it to is a great program. Judging by yer avitar yer involved in Marosk in some way. If so Great work on a great format. I have now converted all my old AVI's and OGMs over and the moves seem to load quicker. there smaller in size, and generaly play more stable and seek a little faster.

Thanks for the congrats, its big fun working with the team, and the positive replies from all sides make it even better ....

Since this week we have MPEG2 in MKV working, what i expect to be the beginning of a new era and user group for us ..... expect MPEG2 editing in VirtualdbMod soon, but packed in the MKV container ......
