Watching AVI files on my TV ... help!

Hello, thanks for taking the time to look at my question.
When I connect my s-video cable to my TV, I am able to see my desktop and use my programs. However, when I attempt to watching any of my AVI movies, none of the video shows up. I tried it in all my media players, Winamp, WMP, and Divx Player.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew of ways to get around this? Is there anything I need to download? Tweaking done to my XP system? Thanks in advance for the help

sounds like your settings aren't correct. you would right click on your desktop, click properties, settings, advanced.
Could you tell us the make of your video card so we can be more specific.

I have the same problem and I currently use a laptop with an ATI RADEON IGP 345M. I try and use WMP to play it and all i get is a bluish/purplish screen on the TV but it shows up on my computer...

the laptops I work with at college have 'hotkeys' for selecting the external display? Have you some tv-looking icons over the keys?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

I have a radeon aswell. i will tell you what i have to do to get it on the tv.
start=>control panel=>display=>setings =>advanced=>display=>activate the tv on button=>activate the full screen display (left blue button under the tv)

Now you will not see the movie on your computer but you will see it on the tv.

          Hope this helps you out......
