that looks to me like its just a bad avi copy of that film in particular
have you tried other one's you know that are definently excellent quality???????/ -
looks like the bitrate was to low when encoded. lot of macroblocks in the waves (action scene). IMO I think some ppl use to low of a bitrate, to encode to mpeg4, to get a small enough file to fit on one cd-rComment

have you tried looking at the post-processing options in the divx's config.exe?although that wouldn't explain why xvid's are like it too, and even with post-processing at minimum it shouldn't look that badComment

surely enough computer. everything looks good. as an experiment try lowering your resolution to 1024x768 and 800x600. this only happens when playing a video ? I'm just taking a guess but if this only happens playing video files then it has to be the way you're system's processing them. Do you have another video card you can try ? Never happened with geforce card but my ATI drivers I had to uninstall and reinstall a couple of times.
continue to keep us informed of your success.Comment

hey thanks alot for taking time to look at my problems. unfortunately, the problem hasn't been solved. i tried lowering resolution but i have a feeling that it has something to do with the updated nvidia driver. i've uninstalled/installed the video drivers several times. but i think this problem arose only after i updated the drivers. if anyone has access to old drivers please let me know. once again thanks a lot.Comment
