No sound to burn on VCD

I have a piece of video in an avi file (info attached)that has no sound, I can run it on my computer with ac3 filter, but how can I retrieve the sound so I can convert to Mpeg on TMPGenc.

When I select it it only gives me a video file, and the audio file section is blank?

    Thanks

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

      Thanks for that!

I have tabbed the 'Direct Show Multimedia Reader' up to 200, as you can only do it one level at a time!

By doing that it now reads an audio file in the wizard but once coverted still has no sound?

I know you said set it to the highest setting, but as there is no option to do that straight away, how much higher do you think I have to go before it will register the sound or do I need to set something up in AC3 before hand!

      Sorry to be a pain!

"I have tabbed the 'Direct Show Multimedia Reader' up to 200"

By setting it to the "highest priority", I was referring to JUST making it higher than any of the other items that appear under "Environmental Settings".

Setting it to "2" (NOT 200) should accomplish this properly...

From looking at your screenshot, your original AVI file appears to have sound. In TMPGENc, go to the main dialog-not the "Project Wizard" screen. At the bottom there are two windows ("Video Source" and "Audio Source"). Load your AVI file into the "Audio Source" window. Now go the "File" > "Output to File" (another menu will open to the right) and select "WAV File". A "Save As" dialog box will appear prompting you to save with a filename. You will then have a PCM Wav file for your audio. Now go back and encode your AVI video with the PCM audio in order to process an Mpeg file.

Thanks for that, but I am just not getting any sound!

I converted it to the Wav file, and even when I just tried to play that separately there was nothing????

              Lost cause?

I'm way out of my depth here but doesn't tag2000 imply that there is no AC3 codec?
The AC filter you mention, is it http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=170391 ?

I believe it means that there is an AC3 audio stream present. but you may be right that an AC3 codec is missing.

I have ac3 installed in my computer, that is why it plays fine when I run the file through windows media!

Do have to minipulate it in someway to allow the encoding to mpeg take place?

Windows Media Player uses its own DirectShow codecs and I think is not reliable proof of compatibility.

Yes but even Windows media didn't play the sound until I intalled AC3.

                          Try installing the FFDirectShow codec.

I downloaded the advanced package on www.cole2k.net .

                            Is that the right one?

And with that installed, do I need to do anything to ensure the conversion to Mpeg with sound?

                            Thanks

I seem to have hit a brick wall!

                              Does anyone have any ideas!

                              Thanks in advance!
