Help converting a mov file

ok this movie is weird. the file had a suffix; xl.3ivx if that makes a difference. plus theres no sound so i guess i need a codec. also iono if this makes a difference but it also has parts like a dvd i can skip through and its very hi res. i tried using tmpeg with the qtreader i got this error:

The resolution of this video is illegal

>The window size needs to be set between 8x8 and 4088x4088
>The width and height of window needs to be a multiple of 8

ok i got it and it converts the video, but the i still have an issue with the audio. It says no signal. And i'm having a very hard time finding the codec. Can anyone possibly suggest a codec commonly used with mov files?

ok i checked the file info on quicktime it says its MPEG-4 audio anyone know where i can get the codec?

this movie is like a mini dvd

when i start it theres a little menu which i have to pick the audio track. and if i don't pick on it'll won't have any audio. but i can't get eo to pick the normal sound track.
