    AVI to MPEG

I have downloaded a number of avi files and I wish to convert them to mpeg as my DVD software does not play avi files. The avi files are in perfect condition i.e Audio & Video perfect when I play them In Windows Media player. However when I convert them to MPEG using TMPGEnc the video quality is perfect but I am getting no Audio. Anyone know what I am doing wrong.

I've used it a couple of times and it worked perfectly.
Start TMPGEnc ,select Video-CD (PAL or NTSC).
    [Next] Open the .avi file
[Next] (I skip the filter settings part)
    [Next] Name your output file.
Enable the button bar -Start encoding immediately

PS. I use the TMPGEnc wizard.

When I start TMPGEnc I have three menu options
      File Option Help
I then select Video source and select the avi source file I choose stream type system (Video+Audio) and then select Start.
Where should I select Video-CD (PAL or NTSC)

Are you using TMPGenc ver. 2.5 - it has a wizard which is great - you get it from TMPGenc.net rather than .com (which has only an older version). The only setting I change is from "normal" speed to "slowest" for better quality. And I have had no problems at all.(The first thing the wizard asks is whether you want to convert to vcd, svcd or dvd, and within each, to ntsc or pal)

Many thanks for your help. TMPGENC 2.5 works with convert some of my avi files but I am getting the following error message with some of the avi files.

          TMPGENC 2.5
an error occurred when audio was decoded

I also have an other application which gives the following error

          avi2vcd
Source Video uses compressed audio! avi2vcd annot encode compressed audio!

And I know that the audio is ok because I can watch the movies in Windows Media Player.

          Any other ideas.
