    Beginner questions - NTSC/PAL

    Hi,

I have just started with divx, so these will be really easy questions for most of you!

If I download an NTSC movie and want to make a VCD to play on my DVD player, do I have to convert it to PAL (I live in Switzerland)? How can I do that?

If my movie is 717 MB as a divx file, but 1:40min long, Do I need to split it in two before burning it , i.e. do I have to watch the MB or the time to know if it will fit on one CD?

    Thanks!

    Anna

717 MB as a divx file:
    - split in two parts and burn it on two cd-rs OR
    - use a cd-r with 717MB or more (800 MB) should also be availabel in CH OR
    - Use VirtualDUB to cut off the credits, maybe that makes the 17 MB
    don't trust in guides

      ntsc to pal

use flask mpeg to convert ntsc to pal if u get a stutter once its been converted try to lower the frame rate as pal is 25fps and ntsc is 29fps..as for the avi file sizes once its been converted to vcd pal it should be able to fit on one 700mb disc if u cut the credits as above

There is no need to split a .Avi file that is 717MB.
        A 80min cd holds 700-703MB.
If you view the properties for the file and it shows 717MB(on HD)
        it fits a 80min cd.
Max for a 80min cd is 734MB(The size the file takes on the HD)

Sorry.I misread your question.I thought you were gonna burn a DivX to a cd.
