    Windows media player codecs

Is there a codec for windows media player that will allow me to view real media files (like .rm and .ram)? I don't want to download the adware-infested real media player.

That download lists a DirectShow splitter. Does it not patch in to Media Player automatically?

I'm not sure. I downloaded it and installed just the codecs, and then tried to steam some real media with windows media player to no avail.

I've never tried with WMP but I can say it works with Media Player Classic (recommended player)
