I have to share this one.
I removed my old codecs and reinstalled newer versions and all of the sudden Virtualdub and virtualdubMod didn't list my DIVX and XVID codecs anymore. To be more precies some MS codecs were listed in the video\compression menu but that was it.
(Cinepak Codec by Radius, Intel Indeo® Video R3.2,
Microsoft H.261 Video Codec, Microsoft H.263 Video Codec,
Microsoft Video 1, Microsoft RLE)
So i went to Gspot and examined my system. It reported that all codecs were properly installed. What was going on???
Well it took some searching on the forums but if this happens to you do the following:
Open Regedit and goto this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
See if there are any drivers listed where there is nothing ("") listed in the data column. If you see any, remove them.
Your problem is solved all your codecs are visuable agian.
