Use VirtualDubMod, or NanDub (variant programs of the regular Virtual Dub). They are all freeware. To demux (separate) the audio from the video, go to "File" > "Open Video File". Then go to "Video" and select "Direct Stream Copy". Then, go to "Streams" > "Streams List". You can either click "Demux" or "Save WAV" to get a separate audio track.

      Thanks.
I have gone as far as where you said the Streams section. Where do I go for that? I can't see it anywhere.

Instead, you could use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") as follows:

        File>>MPEGTools>>DeMultiplex

If you click the "Streams" dropdown menu, "Streams List" is a selection under that. Are you using VirtualDubMod?
