    DVD Problems

    Hey all,
Today I purchased a magnavox dvd player at best buy because I thought that my xbox which i had previously been using as my dvd because i thought it was broken. upon bringing home this new dvd player and hooking it up, it has the exact same problem as my xbox did while playing certain dvds. while some dvds play fine, the majority do not play correctly. what i mean by this is that there will always be sound, but the picture will only be on the screen for about 5 seconds before it goes out to the blue screen and then comes back about 15 seconds later only to go out again. right before the picture goes out the screen will become darker and darker and before it gets all that dark the screen turns to blue, but the audio is still there. I am using a av source selector switch, which is brand new so i assume it is working fine. I have tried bypassing this selector and just hooking it up to the vcr but this only mimicks the problem. I have tried a different vcr and different cables (coaxial, rca, etc.) but still the problem continues to come back. So, what do you think is wrong?
    Thanks

Sounds like you're seeing the effects of Macrovision (for lack of an S-Video connector on your television). Radio Shack sells an inexpensive "black box" that will eliminate your problem...
